My Story

My photography journey began when I was given a point and shoot instant Polaroid camera in the 80’s. It never really hit the mark though, when trying to take photographs of the natural world. My dad let me use his 35mm film SLR Pentax to experiment with but not very often and my interest in photography wained. It wasn’t until I went to Art College to study Graphic Design that I became connected again with the world of photography. Setting up the photography studio with lights, models, products to go with the design briefs our lecturers set and then taking the unprocessed film into the dark room to generate the final image to use in the design mockup was a highlight of my time there.

So, life took its course with a family, I setup my own design business to fit in with my two boys and again photography took a backseat. It wasn’t until my boys grew older and I found I had a bit more time on my hands. My husband gave me a present of a DSLR camera and I got my photography buzz back. It gave me the push to start to look at the natural world again in a different way through the lens.

Capturing on camera amazing wildlife experiences has become part of a life long passion that I have had with watching birds and wildlife from a young age after being encouraged by my naturalist dad. Being able to identify the different species of birds by call and watching their behaviour has helped in capturing the image.
